What We Like About the Camwear 12 Quart Polycarbonate Container

At approximately 12" (30cm) square and 8" (20cm) deep it is the perfect size for cooking most meals for 4 to 5 people. It easily holds several steaks or chicken breasts. The smaller size also means it heats up more quickly, saving time and energy. It's also transparent, which makes it easy to look at the food and ensure that it is staying under water and not leaking.

Polycarbonate has several advantages. It holds in heat much better than metal pots and they are lightweight but also heavy duty. Polycarbonate is also designed to hold up to high temperatures, which means there is no warping or leakage of potentially dangerous chemicals into the water.

I like the handles on the container as well, making it easy to move around. It also has a lid that is easy to cut a hole in to fit the circulator, reducing the evaporation. The container itself also has a ridge around it for added stability. However, if you have hard water, it can be more difficult to clean.

Why We Recommend the Camwear 12 Quart Polycarbonate Container

For a dedicated sous vide container, we really like all of the polycarbonate options, but Cambro makes a great product and this size works for the majority of cooks. Everyone in our family (my Dad, mother-in-law, and I) all use this container and love it. The only reason it is not a Top Pick of ours is because you have to cut the lid yourself, while the Rubbermaid containers and LIPAVI containers have pre-cut lids available.
