Juicer
Juicers are becoming more popular every year. This is because they can be used to extract juice from fruits and vegetables which is both great tasting and healthy.
When purchasing a juicer you need to consider the types of items that you want to extract juice from. This will allow you to determine the type of juicer you will need. There are numerous types of juicers, the most popular are the following:
Centrifugal juicers, also known as juice extractors, are the most common and are very affordable. This type of juicer is great for nearly all types of fruits and vegetables and it is by far the fastest at extracting juice.
Masticating juicers, sometimes known as slow juicers, have only been around for a few years but they do offer several advantages over centrifugal juicers. They are more efficient, i.e. they produce more juice from the same amount of fruit or vegetables. They are also quieter and can juice difficult items such as wheatgrass. However, along with these advantages comes a higher price. Their biggest disadvantage is that they are much slower.
In this particular review we will be focusing on the centrifugal juicers since they are lower cost and are adequate for producing the juice required for the vast majority of modernist cooking recipes.
Where to Buy a Juicer
To cover a broad range of capabilities and prices we will recommend three different juicers. The one with the entry-level price is the Hamilton Beach 67650A Big Mouth Pro Juice Extractor. This will set you back less than $60 and be sufficient to meet most juicing needs.
As the name indicates one important feature of this juicer is the "Big Mouth" chute it has. This allows you to feed it with fruits and vegetables without cutting them into smaller pieces saving you both time and effort. It has a powerful 1.1 HP (820 W) motor, stainless steel mesh blade and strainer, and all detachable parts are dishwasher safe.
This is an extremely popular juicer with over 1000 reviews on Amazon and a 4.1 rating. In addition, on numerous online sites this juicer is given the "Best Value" award. It's a great way for you to try juicing without having to make a major monetary commitment.
A moderately priced juicer is the
Breville BJE200XL Compact Juice Fountain (shown at the top). This juicer is the entry-level model of the Breville juicer product line and is available at many store for around $100. Breville is a well-known juicer manufacturer with one fifth of the world's juicer sales. We like the products this company manufactures and have recommended their
standing blender and immersion blender as well.
This juicer has an extra wide 3-inch feed tube for less pre-slicing of fruits and vegetables. It has a 700 W motor that spins the dual knife assembly at 14,000 RPM. The stainless steel blade and micro mesh filter work together to maximize the amount of juice extracted. All removable parts are dishwasher safe.
The Breville BJE200XL is a top seller on Amazon with more than 1700 reviews and an amazing 4.5 rating. It also has been awarded the ""Best All Around" and "Best Budget" juicer on online sites. I've had this juicer for a couple months and I really like it. I would definitely recommend it if you'd like to spend around 100 bucks.
If you are flushed with cash and would like to purchase the top rated centrifugal juicer, then the Breville 800JEXL Juice Fountain Elite Juice Extractor is calling you. This is the top of the Breville juicer line and its shiny stainless steel housing is packed full with a 1000 W Italian made motor that operates at two speeds (6,500 and 13,000 RPM).
This is one of the few centrifugal juicers that can handle leafy vegetables, such as kale and lettuce, well. The Elite has titanium reinforced cutting blades to ensure they stay sharper for longer and a stainless steel mesh filter basket for spelling out the pulp. It also includes a 1 L juice jug with a froth separator. Cleanup is a breeze and all the parts are safe for the dishwasher.
Many online review sites award the Breville 800JEXL with their top choice for a centrifugal juicer, and often name it the "Best Juicer" they have reviewed. Some consumers and experts have even said that it's the best juicer ever made. These stellar reviews have helped to encourage more than 1 million people worldwide to purchase this juicer.
