Success is Not a Straight Line

I recently interviewed Andrew Wilder on the Makin' Bacon Podcast and this is one of several quotes of his that really resonated with me.
"And [success] is like this zigzaggy random thing. And nobody shows you that...so if you compare yourself to other people, you'll drive yourself crazy." - Andrew Wilder
As a society we celebrate what we believe to be "overnight successes", but that almost never happens. As "overnight sensation" Cee Lo Green once said "Yeah, I'm finally an overnight success -- after 18 years of hard work".
We tend to forget how much work goes into growing a following, honing our craft, and building a foundation to finally take off from.
When have you felt that success was alluding you, only to finally achieve what you were striving for? Let me know in the Makin Bacon Facebook Group or the comments below.
